Mission: Blood Feud

I worked on the second mission in the Black Ops 6 campaign “Blood Feud”. In this mission, the player is tasked with taking out four high-ranking guild targets to gain the trust and recruit Sevati “Sev” Dumas. The mission starts with a lot of player freedom to go silent or guns blazing, but towards the end, it narrows down into a high-octane gunfight and a spectacle moment wraps up the level. There are many options presented throughout that appeal to a variety of playstyles and delivers unique experiences each playthrough.

Design Examples

When the player first approaches the stalls, they have to choose which path to fight down each with there own challenge. Option A was designed to offer a more straightforward path, but with more enemies laying down suppressive fire towards them. Option B has fewer enemies, but is a little more twisty and has less cover overall for players to rely on. If players are observant they might even find a third option.

At the later end of the Market, the player and their companion Sev need to take down a HVT shooting behind the bar. This is the final major challenge in the level with his constant suppressive fire and extra armor. I scripted his behavior shoot at the player for a certain amount of time and then switch to Sev for a bit on a loop. This gives players a chance to breath, but also see an immersive interaction between their new team member and the enemy.
